Fantastic Fractalicious Fractals issue 14The first issue of this year! This time I want to present some of the coolest fractals from 2011, it was really difficult to pick out some faves of the year, you are too good!!! But first, a short resume of last year's happenings.
What happened last year?
Pretty lot! There have been fractal circles with tweaking fractals around, both in the group :#fractalcircles: and ponging parameters in :#aposhack: , Light SuicideBySafetyPin introduced us for the Inspiration station, the fractal flash mob, a collective feature of different artists. heavenriver has her UF challenge going on http://heavenriver.deviantart.com/journal/Ultra-Fractal-monthly-Challenges-Redux-Vol-12-277027446 and f--l--A--r--k has his Apo challenge http://fav.me/d4l1fc6 and it would be great if we could keep up supporting them! Fractal Features - January FIRST, SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT...
how many fractal artists are there here at DA and how many worldwide?
is someone using (or have interest in) fractals in professional life (except making tools for us) or some art-unrelated form?
how does awareness of art being fractal change (raise) perception and appreciation?
SPECIAL SELECTION: beautiful 3d fractal scenes
by carlx is really fascinating with its clean design and peaceful setting, in an impeccable composition.
by Len1 reminds me of an illustration for a dark fantasy novel, with great attention given to both design and atmosphere.
by Forgot-my-pen is a beautiful and really creative manipulation with a nice touch of surrealism.
by LeonieZurakowsky shows great depth, intense colors and a very dynamic composition.
by Ectoplaz shows us the wonders and the great express

Fantastic Fractalicious Fractals 14Here is the series again. Seems like the title issue is almost fixed. And gosh, there are a lot of goodies to show off! I wasn't sure if I should submit it via my ordinary journal, or sta.sh writer. But it could be good to have a clear difference between my ordinary silly journals and ehm.. more serious features. Nuff squabbling. Back to business!

This Week in Fractals - Issue 01How many people remember my weekly "Hot Off the Press" features? As you may know, I had to discontinue them almost two years ago due to busyness in my meatspace life. Well, the hiatus is over. I'm reviving hot off the press with a new name (which I've long though suits the nature of the feature better). The "rules" are still the same: up to thirty featured fractals, all uploaded to dA within in the past week. I'll also be keeping the "feature cap" (number of issues an artist can be featured in, which starts out at five and rises slowly the more issues accumulate), but due to the long hiatus, everyone is being "reset" to zero. In short, having been featured in the old Hot Off the Press won't affect how many times you can be featured in This Week in Fractals.
Clerical details dealt with, here's a variety of fractals from the week of Nov 25 - Dec 1 that caught my eye. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Poetic PsychosisIn thirty seconds, the next shell would fall. Every night was the same, but every night Lorenzo experienced it as if it were the first time. His throat felt swollen; breathing was hard. He glanced around at the others; young men like him who had been shipped out in the name of honour and freedom. There was no honour in this, no freedom. Only death behind your eyelids, and a fear so gutting, that it carved out your innards and left you a hollow husk. Lorenzo tried to breathe, tried to assure himself that he was still whole, still made of flesh. They had lied when they told him he was ready.
Matteo ran towards him, arms out, rifle swinging uselessly at his side. He shouted for him to run, but Lorenzo remained motionless, unable to move as his friend’s warning was lost in the constant blare of gunfire. None of them were ready.
“The cycle is repeating. It is not safe.” The voice was soft and weak, yet it carried over the gunfire and battle cries without impediment.
